Battle of the Bulge – October 2006

 

 

 

Hotel: Alliance Hotel in Liège

 

Large, modern hotel with excellent facilities, albeit on the steep side for drinks - we were paying 5 Euro per beer in 2006! A lively walk across a multilane highway takes you through a small park and then into the main area of student bars, a great spot for a late night adventure, and scene of the famed 'five more drinks and we're off' Scissor Sister disco expedition into the early hours.

 

Battlefield visits:

 

First day - Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, the route of Kampfgruppe Peiper and the Malmedy Massacre, La Gleize museum and preserved King Tiger.

 

Second day - German cemetery, Recogne, Bastogne, American Memorial and Bastogne Historical Centre.
